Actual is 300, pay 200 to sir and go.

Reported on March 26, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #32275

I was on the way to Chickpet in my Car. I was driving a bit slow and could not cross the signal before the other side traffic started. I was stopped by a traffic constable. He asked me to get out of the vehicle and talk to his Sir(Inspector).
"The actual fine for Signal Jump is Rs.300. Give 200 to sir and he will let you go." I was told the same by a Traffic Constable at Halasuru Gate Police Station traffic Signal while I was walking towards the Inspector. I did not agree. I came back to my car to take a pen and paper. The constable changed his tone and he became very friendly. I wrote down the names of the constable and Inspector. I was ready to pay the fine as I did not want to pay the bribe. I came back paying Rs.100 with a proper receipt. I just asked the name of the Constable and Inspector. He did not want anymore bribe.
