Bribe for playing cricket on street
It was Sunday around 7:30pm, just next day after World Cup 2011. Some of our friends came home to have dinner with us. There was cricket fever everywhere as India had won the cup. So one of my roommates and other friend took the bat and a canvas ball just went outside on the street to play few balls. Within 5 minutes they came back with bat and angry look on their face. We asked them what happened they told their two cops they took the ball on second hit which went to other side of the street. All of us went outside to see what the exact problem is. We asked them. They told us that it is not the time to play and we have to pay them or else we need to go to police station. We started arguing. One of our friends started gathering people walking on the street. The cop stopped communicating in English or Hindi telling that he does not know these languages. One of my friend started talking in Tamil so they asked him not to talk in Tamil. Then the cop told to onlookers in Kannada that someone complains dialling 100 about the noise. We asked that can 2 people make so much noise within 5 minutes that someone has to call 100. It was big argument and we asked them to get the arrest order. They could not stand more as people started gathering, so they left. But we were little concerned and worried if they come back because two of our married friend’s wives were also there.
Now the question is: there are so many kids playing in the street everyday and nights so I don't think that anyone would have called 100. Secondly, there is a warning even if considering that those 2 of my friends made huge noise in 2 minutes. So to earn money they tried to exploit their power because we were from different states. And why there is discrimination for the people who came from other states. It is India and we can stay anywhere in India and WE PAY TAXES here.
If Indian can't respect their own countrymen, why RSS or any other groups, news paper and media make a huge fuss about Indians facing discrimination in other countries, where we really take their jobs.
