Bribe: Whats my fault?
I was taking a u turn at the MG road signal a few weeks back ( near the metro parked there). A cop stopped my car and asked me to get down. I have a kid in the car and my driver was at the wheel. We waited for the signal and then took the turn and hadnt violated anything. He denied it and told us that we jumped the signal. Said he will not challan me and asked for Rs 500 and then Rs 100 ( which is what I shamelessly paid).
I was furious but helpless because he asked me to come to the cubbon park>I didnt want to do that with a kid.
2 days later I went back to ask for a challan and also lodge a complaint but couldnt find the chap and didnt know his name either.I asked him to check the camera and confirm for sure that my car violated but he couldnt substantiate !! I stood for 5 mins atleast to clear the signal and ended up paying a fine and felt hopeless because it was a BRIBE and not a fine !
