BRIBES THROUGH CAR DEALERS

Reported on February 4, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #32566

This is today's incident. I went to a showroom to buy a New car.
The dealer has given me cost of the car which included Rs 5000
as "incidental expenses". On insisting ,he suggested that this amount is for Name plates and Bribes for registering the vessel.
Name plates cost is between 600 -1000. Balance is for bribes.
This was not acceptable to me, as no special favours are being done by any body while collecting full lifetax and registering a new vehicle. After prolonged argument I have returned without
buying the car. THIS IS CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP(PPP) in bribe culture.I am sure Rs 4000 is for sharing between dealer and transport office.Private businees too makes money in the name of government corruption. I hope, at least all new car buyers resist to this payment as this dfinitely is easy and WOULD HAVE MADE SOME CONTRIBUTION TO SAY NO to bribe OR ATLEAST WOULD NOT HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO GIVING BRIBE.

PS: The dealer has later called and offerred to take only Rs 1000 for name plates. I have to take a call on this.
