Charged Rs200 for 5 copies of Death Certificate with no receipts
I submitted the required documents at the Basweshwaranagar Ward office (behind Gangamma Thimmaiah Choultry).
We were very promptly given all the copies within 10 min, and when asked where to pay for the fee for the certificate he said that he had done a favour by giving the certificates immediately which is never seen in any other office.
He then said the cost of the 5 copies is 150 and 50 rupees is for prompt service.
We then asked for the receipt for the Rs 150 and he said that the work was done and hence no receipt is required now. Hence, I feel he has cheated.
There was no one at the office senior to speak too as I waited till 1:15pm to see if we can raise this with an officer.
It is a shame that with computerization, the corruption cycle is still ongoing!
