Passport verification delayed for refusing bribe
I had applied for a passport in Guwahati in Jan of 2003 while i was studying in IIT guwahati and was soon called for police verification. I was however shocked when the office responsible for doing verification openly asked for a bribe to expedite the report. Being from a poor family, i wasn't able to afford the bribe so i silently refused. As a result my passport got delayed for 7 months.
