Hi, I am a software employee and had got married in Dec-2012. Me & my husband went to a sub-register office to get our marriage registered.
Even though we had all the required documents along with the proofs and the wedding card etc, the people there did not bother to even take our application for long time.
When we insisted and asked why, they asked us to go to another office or come another day for registration.
When we asked for the reason for not accepting the application, they gave all possible stupid answers:
E.g- we have more work today, You can also get it registered at another office, or else you have to wait for 4-5 hours here, or come another day etc.
Then I asked them to give all these reasons in writing, but they denied it and asked us to wait.
Later some anonymous person called us aside and asked us to give them some money so that they will accept the application.
I was totally against it and I had all the required documents in hand.
After this, Me & my husband stood in front of the sub-registrar almost 2 hrs saying that we will wait. Finally the registrar took our application and got it processed.
And when we went to get the seal there, the clerk openly asked for BRIBE. That was ridiculous. Our entire day was gone in waiting.
Finally I am happy to say that, we got our Marriage Certificate, without bribing anyone.
