Persistence pays.

Reported on November 12, 2011 from Mysore , Karnataka  ι Report #31434

I had to apply for a transfer of Khata upon inheriting the house I live in,a two stage process wherein the khata is transferred in the joint names of all the heirs and subsequently transferred in the name of the individual after due process. The first part went off smoothly and was done within a weeks time. The revenue inspector then demanded a bribe for the job done.I flatly told him that it worked against my conscience to pay a bribe. He gave a wry smile and I instantly knew he would take it out on me the next time.
The second time I had to visit the Zonal office 37 times and the Corporation office 6 times, inspite of having all the documents in order. The officials at all levels are masters in the art of dodging, but had to relent before my persistence and give me the khata after six weeks.
