Police taking bribe from students

Reported on October 19, 2013 from Pune , Maharashtra  ι Report #36855

Today while dropping me on the way to my work place, my friend got stopped by a police official named Shinde (with vehicle no. MH12 BQ5666) at 10am, 19th Oct 2013. this incident took place at sahakar naagr-II, sant nagar, near green bakery/ sujata mastani, pune. my friend was driving his brother's bike, he had his own licence but no vehicle papers at the scene. the police officials noted down his licence no, name and address details. after that the police started forcing and threatening him to pay a fine. He said that his brother can come in 5 mins with paper as he stays at just next signal at 2 mins walking distance. but the police behaved very rudely and forced him to pay rs. 100 instead. my friend did'nt argue much as I was present there and generally people dont make any scene in public while accompanied by female persons.. and that police was taking advantage of this. he was taking bribe ranging from rs 100- rs 500 openly. we did not get any reciept for our payment. that police was mainly targetting young college students and people accompanied by females, so the treatening can be easier on their part. . there is a auto rikshwa stand at the chowk. the drivers seating nearby told us that the police is doing this same process since last couple of days and taking bribes from people. please do something as soon as possible.
