Police verification - Passport
I had applied for my passport renewal. So the local police needs to verify my residential address and identity and send a report to the passport office. Usually they visit you at your residence. Not in this locality, Here they demand that you visit the police station with proof of residence(eg: utility bills etc). So i go the policy station and submit all necessary documents. There is a huge notice which says "Corruption is criminal and if anyone in this office demands bribe, you should report it". So the cop in charge asks me with a smiling face - "sir, last time when you applied for passport, how much did you give as 'Tip'. I smiled and said 'Nothing'. The cop looked at me and said - 'Its upto you sir, if you want you can give'. I didnt say anything. I didnt pay anything. More so, because i was not in a hurry to get my passport renewed.
