The Public Sector Fiasco

Reported on March 26, 2011 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #32277

I worked for the public sector for over 20 years. The stress and pressure to perform is less in a PSU and therefore you can learn in your own stride. I had been a phenomenon, and the contribution was perhaps more than anyone else.
But promotions avoided me. inquisitiveness got the better of me, and i began to seek the truth about working in the public sector in India. It was not a question of honesty, integrity or performance. in fact those who were corrupt were the ones, who got promoted the fastest, since they kept their bosses happy. those who did service such as grocery for the bosses house, mujras for his chosen few and other such jobs. The territory managers would collect funds for the regional manager. they all got promoted. I could not stoop to this low an ethic. There was danger of being chargesheeted for some petty something which was a bogus case and terminate him. This is becomming more and more rampant as days go by. i felt that my time had come to leave and maintain my ethics and integrity. So i never ever collected any bribes for my boss, and as a result even though my performance is yet to be matched, i suffered a promotionless existence. My boss never misses a promotion as he is master of the craft od getting promotion
