U dont have to pay bribe if u are on the right side of the LAW.

Reported on June 11, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #31912

We pay a bribe because:
1. We are not willing to wait in the Queues,
2. we always feel that we are above the rest of the people who are awaiting their turns.
3. We are lazy in organizing our documents and papers in the required formats.
4. We want the govt babus to endorse our incomplete, erroneous and sometimes illegal paperwork and demands

AND after all this we pay a bribe and get our work done to beat the queues etc and then come on this site and brag about it.

In government offices papers are in vernacular languages. We should be sensitive to the fact that the forms and documents are in a language that is dear to the people working in these offices. We do not make an effort to understand these languages, some people even after 20 to 30 years of living in the same state and city. And then complain about paying a bribe.

Tell me how many of the people who have claimed to have paid a bribe are not a domicile of the city they live in but live and work there and have made a new city their home, have made a serious attempt to learn the official state language.

I have registered three documents in various sub registrar offices Bangalore city in March 2011 and have done so with out paying a single rupee of bribe. The stamp duties have been in the tune of Rs1.2 Lakhs to Rs4.7 lakhs.

I believe that If you have the humility, the decency to interact with the officials in the correct manner, have all your documents in perfect legal order, if you are transacting in 100% "white" and have all the right sanctions and documents in place, you will not have to pay any bribe in any Sub registrar in Bangalore demanded or otherwise.
At one such registration I asked the Sub registrar to cancel the registration, return the Demand drafts and file legal and criminal proceeding against me if any of the papers were not in order and that he was not doing we a favor by receiving money from me on behalf of the government. He did not budge untill I walked out of his office not bothering to collect my originals documents and receipts.
The sub registrar then a couple of days later, sent work for me through one of his people and had the originals released later.
