VAT Registration without bribe
Here's the executive summary: The VAT inspector asked me for money, I refused. I also refused to get intimidated by the office which would constantly ask me for repeat paperwork, lose it and then ask me again and again, and again. Finally, I just let them know that I was going to go to media with their names and they would be in trouble, as well as file RTI. Then everything moved quickly. I know it is hard to do, but please, simply refuse to pay anything, and do things yourself. The government employees thrive on making rules difficult to find, and the government monopoly. Arm yourself with information, have time if you can, and RTI as well. If we don't take our country back from incompetent, indifferent, and/or corrupt people, who will? And if we let 2% of the population control the rest illegally, we're no better than in the British raj.
