Was asked 200-300rs for my passport verification, Refused

In morning i was called by the officer for police verification of passport with all the required docs and forms with 2 photographs later as i reached the police station my verification was done within 15 minutes after all the things were done, the officer asked me to pay 300 and said it was fee for police verification " compulsory nhi hai , dena h to dedakte h 300 lete h sabse , aap chaho to 200 dedo "
I politely refused to pay and said "police verification to free of cost h aap pese kyu lerahe h ?"
He said its not compulsory par aapki wish pe h !
Later he changed his mind and said in a good manner, " rehenedijiye mat dijiye "
At last he said " good thinking, aisi hi thinking honi chahiye "
There was no other police officer there at that time
Now lets see if my verification is approved
