Reported on September 4, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka ι Report #34052

I presume you want to stop electricity theft. You can make a complaint about such instances to the Vigilance wing of the KPTCL. This wing is headed by a senior police officer and its only job is to track down cases of electricity theft, in all the Escoms, such as BESCOM. Once they get information, they raid the area and catch the thieves themselves. The details of the person reporting the theft is not divulged.

I checked up on the website of the KPTCL to find out whether there is an online means of recording your complaint. There is no such facility. I would therefore suggest that you contact Mr. P.K. Garg, the IGP of Police in the KPTCL, who is in charge of the vigilance wing.

Normally, electricity theft does not take place in the KPTCL, which does the bulk transmission of power across the state. The voltages are so high, that the thief will be fried to a crisp, thereby precluding the necessity of reporting on this website.
