Every year the Delhi Jal Board cheats the Delhi citizens by adopting the following modus operandi:-
It will bill a consumer a minimal amount for say 2 or 3 months by showing a negligible consumption of say 5 to 10 units (kilolitres) per month for which the rates are very low. Then, in the subsequent months when actual reading is taken the average consumption will go up way beyond the 30 units per month for which the rates are exorbitant. Had billing been correct in the first instance the average consumption would have come to between 20-30 units per month for which the rates are more reasonable. Last year when I complained, initially there was no response. Then, when I took the RTI route they did reply but although my grievance was not redressed, I atleast thought such mistakes will not be repeated. But again this year for the peak summer months of June-July, they have billed me for only 13 units even though the actual consumption would have been closer to 50 plus units. So, my next bill is going to be again inflated. What is the solution when a Govt Dept openly resorts to such malpractices and cheating and where does an ordinary citizen like me go to for resolution?
