Dear Shanmukha,

I am glad that you have now taken a pledge to stop giving bribes. Citizens are also perpetrators of corruption as they indulging in paying bribes to procure their work faster. You are right, corruption also exists because of a lack of knowledge on behalf of citizens regarding government processes. We on ipaidabribe.com believe in educating our citizens about government processes with our FAQ section. We provide answers to various services and try to update it on a regular basis. The karnataka RTO website has provides a list of the fines for traffic violations as per the motor vehicles Act. Visit the RTO website http://rto.kar.nic.in/. Go to RTO services. The drop down will have the section of Fees, Fines and Taxes where you will get the details. I suggest you take a printout and keep a copy of it in your car/bike. This will come handy if you are approached by a traffic policeman in the near future. Officials take advantage of the ignorance of the citizens. Once they know that you are aware of the system, they will not do harm.

Most government departments today, have their own websites with various FAQs and citizen charters having being provided. This is my request to all citizens and not just you, that please do a background research on your own before you visit any of these. Most of the information is made available only. This just gives you a sense of confidence yourself while approaching the official.

Regards,

Raghu
