Hi Raghu, How many laptops one can carry while coming back to India? Where we can find the whole rule book for the customs? I faced one person who was asking me for some bribe because I was carrying

Under the Baggage (Amendment) Rules 2006, a passenger returning from abroad, following a trip of more than 3 days is enttiled to bring back used personal effects and dutiable goods valuing less than Rs. 25000. Laptops are considered as used personal effects, through this has to be inferred from the rules and are not made explicit. I would suggest that your carefully go through the Baggage rules, which can be downloaded from the following url:</p>

One thing that I am never able to understand is why rules have to be made so complex, that you have to go back and forth, reading every single line and still end up being very confused?</p>
