Dear Ann,

Please go through the FAQs on our website where we have explained how you can apply for the transfer of a meter to your name. There is no necessity for your to either engage an agent (usually an electrical contractor) or pay a bribe.

You will have to provide the following documents along with the application form:

Your possession details

A consent letter from the previous owner for transferring the installation and also the deposits held in his name to the transferee (new owner).

An indemnity bond executed by you protecting the BESCOM against any dispute that might arise out of such transfer.

The BESCOM transfer fee is Rs. 100.

BESCOM will also give you a fresh power supply agreement, in which they will agree to supply power to you.

We are also preparing detailed FAQs along with formats for application. These will be on our website shortly.

Regards,
