How to get fair investigation

Reported on December 1, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka ι Report #33928

This is a really big picture question! Sadly, in India, police investigation methods are archaic, foresnic services are poor and given the pressure on the police for security and traffic control, they hardly have time for conducting decent investigations. Then again, following the investigations, judicial processes take a long time. No wonder that India's record of successful criminal prosecution is a miserable 6 percent. I think that police and judicial corruption will be probably the last to be wiped out in India. I think the government has to be serious in implementing the various recommendations made by Police and Administrative Reforms Commissions, to improve the process of investigations. Good results can emerge only if there is large investment in improving and modernising forensic facilities and improving the skills of investigating police officials. Reform of the criminal justice system is also absolutely necessary, to ensure that justice is delivered, and quickly.
