I am trying to withdraw my EPF having left my previous job. The accumulated corpus is quite substantial about Rs 40L. I got a call from a person there asking me about clearing this, and raising the question of a 'complement' in the region of 1%. My company went through an acquisition process, and was transferred to another, and since then the office in Bangalore shutdown. I was gently told that there would be issues in processing these. The amount being asked for is the region of Rs 50K, which is substantial, and in my opinion totally undeserved. At the same time, I am in need of these funds to support my parents and other domestic financial compulsions. Please let me know your opinion on proceeding.
