I had a passport issued in 1995 getting invalidated in 2005 on my superannuation as a Chief Engineer of the statutory body of the Govt. of Gujarat. The invalid passport copy was not traceable (due to shifting of residence during the period) in 2012 when I needed the same for revalidation for unforeseen requirement of the same.
Although I complied full procedural requirements and Passport Authority did everything on time, the Police Verification was taking inordinate time. Finally I was driven to pay bribe and the police officer expressed politely that the Govt. of Gujarat (i.e. the Politicians and in particular Shri Narendra Modi )has given them big targets for collections and hence they ask for it.
I had tried to avoid the same but was left with no other option but to pay it regretfully to keep my commitment with foreign consultants to render consultancy services by going their country which would have earned valuable foreign exchange for our country without exporting any material.
