Reported on February 20, 2014 from Thane , Maharashtra  ι Report #39580

I have just moved from Bangalore to Thane along with my new car. Now I have been told by a police to pay tax again who caught me on road as it was a KA registration.
My point is, we are part of One India and should be allowed to go to any part of India with your vehicle.
I am in a transferable job and will get transferred every two / three years.
Why should we pay tax again and again? Why can't we have tax once paid hold good till the life of the car where ever we go?
The funny part is if you sell your car within the state then there is no problem. Then the new owner only have to change the name in registration certificate which is not expensive. Then why we should pay again if move to other state?
Secondly my question is can we pay tax on yearly basis as I will get transferred in couple of years time?
