You need not pay any amount to get an FIR registered. It was the sub inspector on duty who probably asked you for the bribe. First report him to the Police Inspector of that station. If your problem does not get solved, please take an appointment with the Joint Commissioner, meet him and explain the situation. Make sure you have spoken to the Police Station Inspector first, as thats the first question the JC of Police will ask you.

I wanted to file an FIR for LOST of Mobile phone with Reliance CDMA Sim card in the auto.When i went to Dindoshi Police Station in Malad ,Inspector asked for Rs.100 to be paid in cash to him in lieu of registering complaint.I wnated that FIR to get duplicate sim for same number from reliance.Do i need to pay anything legally in this case ?Please advice.
