Firstly I would like to say that, no decent middle class person…
Firstly I would like to say that, no decent middle class person can interact with the police and not feel embarrassed by it. They are very indecent. I personally wouldn't want to even report a crime. I think that the police have to be trained to speak politely, which is farfetched considering the cops are hopeless,seemingly uneducated, and no pride in their work.
here is my story, I and my friends wanted to meet up at midnight. it is to be noted that I and my friends are teetotalers and are well educated with absolutely no malicious intent. we met up close to parthasarathy temple. I and my friends are in the car chatting and catching up.
the police comes and charges us with allegations that we are intending to kidnap/ snatch chain. we are taken to the police station and are made to witness some juveniles being beaten up. and are told that we'll be charged and all sorts. one of the cops was drunk to the hilt. and nearly 2 and a half hours later we realise that they want money, even though they were convinced that we had no wrong intensions. we had to pay 300 rs as a "lesson".
I dont see what was wrong in roaming in midnight, only the police who want to enforce the law at the cost of our freedom would disagree. I dont think anyone can convince me that it is wrong to roam in the night. I most certainly would agree for the police to come up to us and check our intentions, but not forbid us from roaming or chatting all together.
