When a compliant is reported to the Police Station in Chennai, I believe it is a practice that money needs to be given and only then the case is heard, leave alone being registered. Police Corruption

Reported on August 4, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #33658

Data on ipaidabribe.com shows that the maximum bribes are paid in the police department in this country. The citizens need to take it upon themselves to fight corruption. Corruption is perpetrated also by the bribe giver as much as the bribe taker. As you know India has weak laws when it comes to anti-corruption. The citizen should make sure he must leave no stone unturned from his side in tackling this menace. The problem lies in the fact that the citizens are ignorant and ill-informed about government processes and corrupt officials take advantage of this fact. Most government departments today  have websites with various FAQs and citizen charters provided. This is my request to all citizens and not just you, that please do a background research on your own before you visit any government department. Most information is made available only if you ask.  Doing your homework just gives you a sense of confidence while approaching the official.

Distilled from the experiences of many people who have successfully resisted corruption, Ipaidabribe.com has come up with 10 commandments of resisting bribes. These are simple yet effective means by which citizens an resist paying bribes and have been complied using experiences stated on our website. Here is the link to the 10 commandments. You can certainly find a solution to your predicament if you follow these commandments.
