Where can I find the latest information on Traffic violations and its respective fines.I dont want to bribe, and in case I have un intentionally violated a rule, I should pay what is due.

• Driving without a license: Under the section 181 of Motor Vehicles Act, the fine for driving without license is Rs 300 for two three and four wheeler vehicles and 500 for six wheelers.



• Under age driving: Rs 500, under section 181 of the MV Act



• Driving at an excessive speed: Under section 183(1) of MV Act Rs 400 for first offence and 1000 for subsequent offences.



• A licensed person permitting an under aged person to drive: Under section 180 of MV act, Rs 1000.



• Holding a driving license and permitting it to be used by other person: Under section of 177 of MV Act, Rs. 100 for first offence.



• Driving dangerously: Under sections 184 and 188 of MV Act, Rs 1000 and Rs 2000 for every subsequent offence within 3 years of previous commission or both.



• A disqualified person driving a vehicle or applying for a driver’s license or obtaining a driver’s license or seeking a license without disclosing endorsements made on driving license previously held: Under section 182(1) of MV Act, Rs 500.



• Driving a vehicle at an excessive speed: Under section 183(1) of MV Act, Rs 400 for the first offence and Rs 1000 for every subsequent offence



• Drunken driving or driving by a person under influence or drugs: Under sections 185 /188 of MV Act, Rs 2000 for the first offence and Rs 3000 for every subsequent offence within 3 years of previous commission or both.



• Driving an uninsured vehicle: Under sections 146 r/w section 196 of MV Act, Rs 1000.



• Driver’s failure to obey traffic sign (Red light jumping, violation of yellow line, changing lane without indication, etc.): Under section 119 r/w section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for every subsequent offence.



• Driver of a two-wheeler / motor cycle carrying more than one person in addition to himself (Triple riding): Under section 128(1) r/w section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for every subsequent offence.



• A driver and pillion rider failing to wear protective head gear (helmet): Under section 129 r/w section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for every subsequent offence.



• A person failing to take precautions at unguarded Railway level crossing: Under section 132 r/w section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for every subsequent offence.



• Using mobile phone while driving a vehicle: Under section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for every subsequent offence.



• Demanding of excess fare by Auto rickshaw / Taxi: Under section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for every subsequent offence.



• Driving motor vehicle without number plates (Not displaying number plate): Under section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for every subsequent offence.



• Failing to report to Registering Authority fact of transfer of vehicle within time prescribed: Under section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for subsequent offence (However, State Government may prescribe different amounts having regard to period of delay)



• A driver, in a public place, failing to produce his license, on demand, to any police officer in uniform: Under section 130 r/w section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for subsequent offence.



• An owner or a driver or a person in-charge or a motor vehicle, on demand by a registering authority, or any other officer or the Motor Vehicles Department failing to produce:

o the certificate of insurance of the vehicle; and whether the vehicle is a transport vehicle,

o certificate of fitness and

o permit

Under section 130(3) r/w section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs 300 for subsequent offence.



• Any person driving a motor vehicle in any public place, on demand by a police officer in uniform or officers of Motor Vehicles Department, failing to produce:

o the certificate of insurance;

o the certificate of registration;

o the driving license;

• and in case of a transport vehicle

o certificate of fitness, and

o the permit

Under section 158 r/w section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs. 300 for subsequent offence.



• Any person is injured or any property of a third party is damaged in a motor vehicle accident, the driver or person in charge of the vehicle:

o not providing medical aid to the victim of the accident.

o Not giving the information regarding accident, etc., on demand by a police officer or at the nearest police station

o Not giving the information regarding accident to the insurer

Under section 134 r/w section 187 of MV Act, Rs 500 for the first offence and Rs 1000 for every subsequent offence.



• Plying a vehicle with registration mark of other State for more than 12 months: Under section 47 r/w section 177 of MV Act, Rs 100 for first offence and Rs. 300 for subsequent offence.



• Racing and trials of speed: Under section 189 of MV Act, Rs 500.



• Taking vehicle without authority: Under section 197 of MV Act, Rs 500.
