Benefit of Electronic Medium
I submitted my application through internet and got an acknowledgement. On the day of appointment and during police verification,they told me initially that it is not possible since I am doing it through hostel address but I told that that it is valid and I have seen the Passport act. They agreed and did not pose any issues. Henceforth, I had to go to police chowki with some prooofs. There again they asked many questions and I had to get various documents signed by gazzetted officer. I got all of them, though it took me some time and extra effort to get it all done, but nobody asked for money. Finaly I got my passport in the stipulated time without any more hassles at the cost of Rs. 1000 ( govt charges). HOwever, I mostly hear from people that they either find it difficult or have to pay extra money to some oficials to get it done. I think we are better informed and ready to go extra mile at the cost of our convenience, we do not need to pay bribe at least for passport, since it is electronically managed well.
