Corruption is official here
This is not a recent story...about 4 years old. Not many people know that for getting a driving license in Ahmedabad one can even go to the Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) office. Contact Details are at: http://www.wiaaindia.com/ahmedabad.html
Here, I gave my learning license computer test in a clean air-conditioned testing room after which immediately the license was issued. Also, for the driving license test they took the test and gave me a ready final set of all the necessary paperwork. All this without any queueing up.
Thus, I only went to the RTO (Regional Transport Office) once to********** the paperwork, which was all set hence did not require to stand in the queue for more than 10 minutes for photo taking and signature. Thereafter, 5 minutes later I had my license smart card with me. Never saw a Government body functioning so efficiently and that too without paying a single rupee as bribe. Hope to see such efficiency at other places too. So, I feel one of the reasons for paying a bribe is ignorance of other options.
