I paid nothing for passport verification - twice!

Reported on January 21, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #33230

In 2000, when I was a student at IISc, Bangalore, I had to go to the Sadashivanagar police station for verification. My friends had warned me I'd have to pay a bribe, but nobody at the police station asked for it and everything went off smoothly. Then, in 2007, I had to go to the Malleswaram police station (change of address in the passport) and had a similar experience - although the police officer did give me a questioning look at the end, I will give him the benefit of doubt.
