The Jalahalli police station was to conduct verification for reissue of a passport to me. I received a passport department SMS to the effect on March 6, 2014. I waited for the police to come for verification, but when no one contacted, I visited the police station on March 11 and then again on March 14 and 15. An official visited my home on March 15, but asked me to visit the police station again the next day with all original documents and meet the in-charge. I felt that perhaps I was being unduly harassed. However, the in-charge met me the next evening at the police station, talked politely, and signed the report. Surprised, I asked whether something 'else' needed to be done. He smiled and answered that nothing 'else' was needed. I have received my new passport yesterday through Speed Post. I did not engage any agent, nor had to pay any bribe at the passport office or to the police.
