Passport Renewal - a neat process with minimal chances of getting exploited

Reported on July 28, 2011 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #32965

I am a corporate employee and had to get my passport renewed (basically pages had to be added). This required a new passport to be made. I tried to get it done through the Tatkal way - but was informed that since my police verification record was not in place, tatkal pssport cannot be issued.I submitted the documents and paid the lower (exact fee). Within 2 weeks, I got a notification of a police visit to my home (was perfectly on time) and some few days later I had to go to the Chembur police station to verify my documents. After this, since I wished to expidite the process to the shortest time, i was asked to ********** a senior officer at the passport office and present my case (international business travel). This process too went quite smmothly and i got my passport within 3 weeks from application. I must admit that i was skeptical throughout and expected some gliches which did not happen. I suppose my case was straight forward since I had all papers in place and i was mentally resigned to wait for 3 weeks. Moreover, I had an agent who was guiding me on the timelines, locations etc. Nevertheless, I think there is a welcome improvement in the system and I would like to acknowledge it.
