Passport renewal : No bribes
Being a recent returnee from abroad, I was expecting plenty of bribe horror. But the passport renewal went smoothly - including police verification (in Mysore). No one asked for a bribe and I did not pay a single paisa. The improved processes at passport seva kendra Bangalore seems to be working.
The Inspector at Mysore Saraswatipuram police station was polite, treated me with respect.
One thing I realized: If you have your papers in order, and strong will, there is no need to pay a bribe.
