Surprised that no bribe was asked!
Last year I had to get police verification for passport in two police stations because we changed houses in the past one year. The first verification was done in Sanghvi police station of Pune. It was a long wait in the police station for the verification office. But finally when we went inside his room, we were surprised he did the verification honestly and patiently, and did not ask any bribe at all. I don't know his name.
My second police verification was done a month later in Haveli police station of Pune. This time we paid around 700 rupees to the officer there. He asked for the money.
