An incident happened in 2008 for a Birth certificate.
I was born in Visakhapatnam, AP. I was applying for a visa to pursue my higher studies in abroad. For that, one of the requirement is to have a birth certificate with full name included in it. Unfortunately, my parents did not include my full name in the birth certificate after it was issued during my birth. Then I went to the municipality to ask the procedure for including my name. They informed that it is no longer possible for me to include my name in the birth certificate since my parents did not include the name before 15 years after my birth (Section 14 – Rule 12). In order to get my visa, having a birth certificate is compulsory. Then an employee in the Municipal corporation suggested me to consult a broker. The broker said that it is possible to create a new birth certificate, that I was house born (originally I was born in a private hospital) and pay a late registration fee along with some bribe.
He said that the file has to pass 32 people and costs a lot of money. He demanded 5,000 Rs. Having no other option I have to pay the demanded amount. In 2-3 weeks, they have created a new birth certificate with a fake birth and destroyed the records of my original birth.
After this incident my thoughts have changed, I was ashamed and started going against corruption.
