The guy makes 20 bucks (sometimes 50) per Vakalatnama and signs 100/ 150 Vakalatnamas a day - thats a cool Rs 3000 a day tax free cash plus his regular Govt. Salary. This is open and money is paid "over" the table and disappears in his pocket. The corruption starts before you enter the actual court.
