Baggage checking counter on Mumbai International Airport

Reported on March 6, 2011 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #27556

I paid Rs 500 to a customer rep (CR) at Air India baggage checking counter. I was carrying 2 checking baggage's each had 5Kgs extra in weight. They had mentioned on there website the actual weight we should bring but as it was over 5Kgs. I thought it could be fine. But the CR told me I will have to pay Rs 5000 and check-in one more bag or he will let me go if I pay him Rs 1000.
I did not have that much cash with me so I had to bargain with him saying that I just have Rs 500 which I can give him. But the funniest part was when he asked me to get money from parents who had come to drop me at the airport, but I had to firmly say no to that. And told him this is what I have and it was almost my flight time to leave so if you can adjust with it.
I was really late for my flight so I started having a heated argument with him but somehow he was then convinced with Rs 500.
This was not a great thing which I did but in such situation the best and the easiest way to tackle such a problem is that we should be more conscious get what is mentioned and don't give a chance to anyone to take bribe. Because people will try to get advantage/benefit from you.
I think this will be my last time to bribe anyone and I will hereafter in any ways will not give a bribe to anyone.
I would want people who give bribe to change rather then people who *******
