I landed at Hyd International airport after 4 years, my first time after the new international airport became functional. People said infrastructure in the airport is on par any other big airports across the world, i would definitely agree on that but disappointed to say every thing in the airport changed except the people and their mindset. I was carrying 2 laptops one personal and other work as i was there on work thru my company. The officer at customs dept pulled me over and gave me a big lecture on how i went against the rules by getting 2 laptops. After trying to explain him that I was ignorant of the fact that I cannot get 2 laptops, i finally told him to keep my personal one and I would pick it up on my way back since that guy asked me to pay tax which was around 10000 Rs. The guy looked surprised and offered me to take my laptop home provided i gave him $100. I told him I am not gonna pay and since I am at fault he can keep my laptop. the guy told me all kind of stories from stuff being stolen or broken and that they would not be responsible. Its already been an hour that I landed in Hyd and I was desperate to get out and ********** my folks, finally I gave up and told him i have $50 on me. He wouldnt take anything less than 100, i just kept the $50 bill on his table and in turn had to beg him to take it.
The picture of Hyderabad can change but the people and their mindsets can never change.
