Bribe to get yellow fever vaccination on an emergency basis.

Reported on July 10, 2011 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #6502

Since i needed to travel urgently to Africa, I reached the hospital at the airport for yellow fever vaccination which costs 150 Rs. I was then told that only 70-100 vaccinations are done everyday and one needs to come early in the morning at 5 and stand in the line and then get a token and then wait a few hours after which vaccination will be administered. I was told by the person at the gate that if i want I can get it on an urgent basis thanks to his 'contacts' with the doctor inside.

Because of my urgency to travel, i paid 2000Rs, the doctor came down to the lobby, gave me the vaccination(now i am not even sure if it was real or just water, or was he a doctor after all) and handed me the yellow fever vaccination card.

Its shameful that govt officials create artificial scarcity and make money through such cheap methods.
