I wanted to start a new business immediately after my studies. So I wanted to register a company and get the TN VAT/CST No. I thought it would be easy as other foriegn countries and walked in. They asked me to buy certain forms. I did and filled it up. Each and every table I went, the people working there. Both men and women said there was this form missing or something was wrong. I spent 1 whole day changing and correcting things but could not submit my papers correctly as they found some mistake. I was fed-up and nearly gave up. I then met a man down near the tea shop and narrated the incident. He happened to be a broker. He took out a sheet and wrote down how much I will have to pay in each table to get my work done. He tore my whole set of application and got me a new set and filled it in for me in 10 mins. I then went in and started paying one by one on each table by putting the money in the application.I was surprised that there was not even one mistake then. My papers went thru so quickly. At last there was man who was standing out who said he can get me the TIN no. in 1 day if I paid him Rs.200. I did that too and got it the next day by SMS. I was so taken back. You people say don't pay bribe. But if you don't pay they won't let you survive. If u complain to the police you can never start a company. So what can poor people citizen like me do with all my studies and knowledge?? The cheif there even asked me to gift him a mobile phone to do a corection in the vat filling. Every deepavali they will come to your office and ask for money.. What can anyone do?? If you don't pay them, they will not process your monthly fillings. So what do we all do then??
