I was born in Kolkata but I have spent the last 20 years if my life in **********. So technically speaking, I should be getting my domicile certificate proving that I am domicile resident of Maharashtra. But even though I submitted all the documents that I was asked for, I was not given my domicile certificate with some excuse or the other. This was only because my birth certificate was from West Bengal. My first application was made in the month of June and even after 4 months when I did not get my domicile, even after innumerable visits to the office, I was forced to bribe this person. Sorry, dont know his name. He just came forward to me seeing that I was very depressed and offered to get me my domicile certificate if I agreed to pay him Rs. 1000/- I told him that I didnt have that amount and finally the deal was made at Rs. 500/-. He took the money and spoke to a few officials and finally I got my certificate in just 5 minutes time. I never felt so helpless where all my time and efforts for the last 4 months were just worth Rs. 500/-
