I had submitted my passport for renewal with all the legitimate documents. I had to visit passport office three time and every time I had to wait 4-5 hours in que to ********** passport officer, to hear from her that "your passport is ready and will be dispatched in 24 hours", but it never reached me. As my foreign assignment was important to me and I would have missed the same without a timely renewed passport, I approached an employee in the passport office. Within no time, he came out with details of my new passport but said that " you have already waited for 4 months, if you do not want to wait for another 3-4 months pay 4000/- Rs" and I was left with no option but to pay. In fact, I had put written complaints through fax three times to public grievance officer, MEA, Delhi twice (with no results ofcourse) before taking the step of paying bribe.
