Before i applied for the passport, i did some finding on my own to understand the likely stages where my passport application can be stuck. Police verification was one of them, i have been told by freinds and relatives to hand over some amount to the person filling up the police verification forms. On the day of police verification, the person at the police verification counter asked me to get the xerox of the applications forms which i did it without any question as i dnt wanted to get into any hassels. once the form was filled with lots details, my dad asked me to hand over small envlope containing Rs. 200 to the person at the desk to speed up the process. When i left the police station there were around 10-12 people were waiting for their turn. i did my calculations and realised that these guys are earning 2000-2400 daily only on police verifications and this is not the only medium but one of the mediums available to them to earn more money.
I felt sad for giving that bribe but i didn't have any other options as getting passport was my top priority.
