Bribe paid to avoid going to the station

It was 2 am at night and me and a few friends were relaxing at home, playing some music on the cell phone, and also smoking some hookah. When suddenly this cop turns up at the main door! We were totally confused as to what would the cop would want at this time of the night! We were not creating a lot of noise because if he had, the first person to confront us would be the landlord of the building!!
Then he accuses us of making noise and told us that the control room received a complaint (wonder how he heard the music coming from a cell phone from the 4th floor!!). Realizing his accusation didnt scare us enough, he pointed at the hookah and vehemently accused us of smoking GANJA!! We were cursing the Indian government and were wondering what exactly do they teach the cops during their training! He then asked us to accompany him to the control room when one of my friends asked him how much money he wanted, to which he stopped immediately like he knew this was going to happen. He asked, how much do u have? My friend said only Rs.300. He demanded Rs.500!! We had no other choice but to oblige as we are students and it would have been a big embarrassment to our parents if they came to know!!
