Bribe paid to recover my own motorcycle stolen by theives.

Reported on September 25, 2010 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #30744

I had my bike stolen from the railway station, after almost 2 weeks was very happy to receive a call from the police station about the recovery of the stolen bike.Thats when my ordeal began once i reached the police station i was asked to pay money to take out my file apers and then i had to pay to the constable who drove my bike from the nearby police station, i had to contact a lawyer who will have to represent my case to recover MY BIKE his charges when asked was very vague typical of the lawyers.... dont worry i charge a nominal sum was the usual answers....
After having my case dragged for over a month and few hearings the judge was kind enough to let me have my bike back. now after the verdict i had pay to the court clerk to take out my verdict file, then to someone to prepare the letter to the police station authrosation for the release of MY BIKE. I had no choice.First time in a court waiting for my turn at all possible corners....

With the papers i reached the police station but the constable said the file has not reached it meant something is required so i paid again. after all the formalities to get th efinal paper two constable came and demanded some as they have processed my case so i paid again and At LAst i got my bike nad then the hassle with the lawyerinspite of paying him 1000 on 2 occassions for various formlities he demanded 1500 as his balance fees. No choice i again paid up.

Think about it i had to go thru all the troubles and piad so much money to various ppl to recover my OWN Bike. i dread had i commited some offence/mistake/crime what would i had to go thru .........

I stongly feel technology should take over where by ppl can see whats happening online so that govt officials becomes sensitive to ppl.
