BRIBE PAID FOR transferring from old to new KHATA form

We went to pay property taxes. The officer informed us that there is a new Katha form (green form) that needs to be filled in before we can pay the taxes. He asked us to go get a xerox of the papers while he calculates the property tax. Once we got back, we were told that we need to pay Rs. 5000 (Rs 2500 for each property Katha transfer) and come the next day. Since we had already applied office leave to pay the taxes, we asked if he can get it done for us the same day. He mentioned he needs to get signature from higher officer and he will try. We
did not realize it was a bribe until the officer mentioned that they do not give the reciept for the same and only provided us the receipt for the tax paid which was around Rs 3000. We did not get the receipt for additional R. 5000 that was paid to new Katha form.
We were helpless and left with Anger which we did not really show to the officer. Now I think about this incident, can someone tell us the amount for the new form. Rs. 2500 for each form seems ridiculously high to me. Just wish things were online so that trusted authorities can remove the corrupt officials *******
