Bribe on Train.

I was travelling back from Agra after visiting TajMahal in Sep 2005 could not get into 3rd class Bogie - so got into 2nd class compartment,sat next to the toilet door and after just travelling for 15min or so - a railway police - NOT the TC came and asked for my ticket I showed my 2nd class ticket but still he insissted that I should not sit on the floor (mind you the whole train was jam packed)and took me into the toliet next door and asked for 350 rupees or he threatend that he would take me to the police station,so I did not want to go to any police station and gave the above said amount.
Till now I donot know what my mistake was and donot know if I have paid a fine or a bribe.No clue,no bill,nothing.
