Bribed to get a new BSNL broadband connection

Reported on December 3, 2012 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #359

I opted to get a broadband connection BSNL website as I immediately needed one. To my surprise, I had received an automatic message saying that my request is initiated and gave a concerned person's name and contact number for reference to whom I must submit the documents. I had been waiting in vain for almost two weeks inspite of trying that person for almost three weeks. With utmost frustration, I had contacted Airtel one day and you wont believe I had got the connection instantly on the same day with all the details.

After 2 months since this incident happened, I got a call from BSNL and stating that they had sent the persons to give connection. They came and just set up the wires here and there. Without explaining anything, they asked to come to the exchange to get the remaining details like numbers, modem etc. Also, I had to pay them 150 rupees just for the sake of getting the wire from the junction point. Now, I feel privatisation of all govt sectors makes sense. Atleast, I can expect good service for the payment.
