I was due to join my first company after 2 weeks and passport possession was mandatory. The Passport office was not issuing the Passport and kept it in hold for a long time. Before this I had to pay 500/- to the police to get address verified in my hometown. I had to get hold of a 'dalal' and pay Rs. 2000 as bribe to the officer to get it cleared. My first experience of passing on the notes under the table was really frustrating - I felt like spitting on this man's face! Don't these people have dignity?
