Bribed my post guy to get my passport

Reported on September 4, 2015 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #65087

I had applied for renewal of my passport and all the formalities had happened without much trouble and I was eagerly waiting for my passport. Unfortunately I had to move to new place around the same time as when my passport was dispatched. The postal worker arrived at my place and left because the passport has to be delivered in person.

I had to go the Azad Nagar Postal Office in Andheri West, Mumbai, Maharashtra to collect my passport. First I was made to run from one floor to the other, from one official to someone else for a few hours. Then I was made to wait for some guy who was in charge of my route. When he arrived he told me that the passport was now in a locked box or something like that and he will have to talk to the official in charge to get it out. He then casually mentioned that said official would need money to complete the trade. We decided on 500 bucks.

I got the money from the ATM and handed it over to this guy, whose name I don't remember since it has been a long time. He pocketed the money, went to another room, got my passport and asked me to be on my way. I awkwardly thanked him and went on with my business.

tl;dr: I didn't collect my passport at the appropriate time, then chose the easy way out to get it from the postal guy.
